Are you in constant pain because of a ligament, tendon, or muscle injury? If so, therapeutic ultrasound could help you finally get the relief you deserve without the need of drugs or surgery. And, with the New England Stem Cell Institute, you can now benefit from this treatment on your own schedule at home or the office.
You’ve probably heard the term “ultrasound” before, most likely in connection with parents and doctors using it to look at a baby before it’s born. It simply refers to sound waves with frequencies that are beyond the range of human hearing, and it has many other applications within medicine. Diagnostic ultrasound helps our team find injuries in the soft tissues with much more accuracy than a standard X-ray. It can also be used therapeutically to treat those injuries. Ultrasound has been shown to reduce pain, improve someone’s range of motion, and stimulate the body’s natural ability to heal.
In the past, therapeutic ultrasound was primarily provided by physical therapists, and this caused the treatment to be quite limited. A patient could only get it through a therapist, which meant they only received it once or twice a week, usually for just a few minutes. This is way too little time for ultrasound to have a lasting effect on chronic injuries. Plus, the time required to go back and forth between therapy sessions can be draining as well.
That’s why, at the New England Stem Cell Institute, we now provide our patients with a small device they can use at home or the office so they can receive therapeutic ultrasound for up to four hours a day!
